Independent Schools National Championship Showcases Elite Competition as St. James Performance Academy and Example Academy Claim Titles

The Independent Schools National Championship once again delivered an outstanding weekend of high-level basketball, bringing together some of the top independent school programs from across North America. Featuring two competitive divisions, Elite and Gold, the event highlighted talent, intense matchups, and a championship atmosphere from start to finish.

Teams traveled from several regions to compete in this year’s championship. North Carolina was well represented with Winston Salem Christian National and Regional, FB Cresset National, NC GBB National and Regional, and Ambassador Christian School. Illinois was represented by Example Academy National and Varsity. Maryland brought strong competition with Mt Zion Prep Academy National and Blue, Riverdale Baptist School National, and New Hope Academy. Texas programs included Kingdom Collegiate Academy and Faith Family Academy, and Virginia featured S3 Academy and TPLS Christian Academy. Expression Prep traveled from West Virginia to compete. Additional programs included The St. James Performance Academy from Washington, DC, Blair Academy from New Jersey, and Legacy Early College from South Carolina. The tournament also welcomed international competition, with Séminaire Saint-François traveling from Canada.

Throughout the weekend, teams battled through a competitive schedule filled with talented prospects, physical matchups, and exciting finishes. The event featured multiple close games and strong performances that kept fans and coaches engaged from the opening tip through the championship rounds.

In the Elite Division, the St. James Performance Academy emerged as the champions after an impressive tournament run. Their balanced play, defensive intensity, and execution in key moments helped them secure the title in a highly competitive bracket.

The Gold Division Championship was captured by Example Academy Varsity, who put together a strong performance and finished the weekend with a championship victory.

Both championship games showcased high-level competition and were hard-fought battles between talented programs, reflecting the quality of teams that participated in this year’s event. With programs representing multiple states and international participation from Canada, the event once again demonstrated the national reach and competitive depth of the independent school basketball landscape.
