The Insider Exposure league is an opportunity for teams across the country to play at the highest level of competition. This will not be a simulation or exhibition type of league. Each team will be a heavy hitter playing as if everything is on the line each game! Let’s look at one of the teams participating in the league.
Based out of Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, East Coast Prep is a no brainer when it comes to competition. 7+ years under Coach Marcus Brown has made this organization well respected. East Coast Prep is home to 16 teams ranging from multiple states including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Academics over athletics and development equals production are two of the main values this organization stands for.
When it comes to putting athletes in college, Coach Marcus Brown’s track record is second to none. Just to name a few, Antonia Bates (Rutgers Commit), Janayshia Brown (Xavier), Giah Moore (St. Peters), Kateri Poole (Ohio State), Asha Talib/Briana Barnard (Mercy College), Heaven Accimeus (Hampton U., Azuri Abraham (Goldey-Beacom College), etc. There is a lot more where that came from but the main goal is to push kids to further their education wheter or not basketball is involved. The coaching staff doesn’t push for Division 1, they wpould rather have their kids play where they best fit.
East Coast Prep is looking to shake things up in this league as they are bringing undeniable talent to the table. First up representing the 17U teams is Kya Wahsington (SG, 5’10, 2022). Kya’s game is reflective of a true two guard scorer. Also, can’t forget to mention her ability to lock down her opponent. Washington has a motor that will frustrate opposing ball handlers and she is great in transition. Coach Brown praised Washington by claiming, “she’s one of those kids that can compete with the best of them.” One thing that stands out is her work ethic and the amount of time she puts in to perfect her craft. As a freshman, she was highlighted during Run for the Roses and played in the 17U bracket. All in all, Washington is an all around scorer who shines on the primetime stages. She holds interest from Wagner, CCSU, Ohio State, NJIT just to name a few.
Every team needs that high energy type of player with a relentless attitude, just like volleyball’s libero. East Coast Prep is lucky to have Danae Ellzy (CG, 5’9, 2022). This athlete is a true philly kid that plays with a chip on her shoulder. An athlete with a very high motor and never quit mentality. Ellzy has been surrounded by basketball her whole life. Her mother was a Division 1 basketball player and her father is a high school basketball coach. She’s a all-county kid every year, top of her league with ease, and continues to get better. This summer will be big time for Ellzy but currently she holds a lot of mid major interest.
From Pottstown, PA, Avery White (G, 5’6, 2022) is a prolific scorer for East Coast Prep! As a sophomore, she broke the scoring record in a single season with 412 points. She also led her team to states for the first time in school history. Being a young player, her basketball IQ is way beyond her years. Just understanding the game, being a coach on the floor, and taking what the game gives her are all the little aspects that separates her from the competition. Coming from a football background with her dad being a former NFL Player and current analyst, she plays with that tough edge. She doesn’t mind doing the dirty work and setting her team up for success. This vocal PG for East Coast Prep will be looking to turn heads on this upcoming circuit. She is currently receiving interest from FIU, Coastal Carolina, CCSU, NJIT, and a few more.
East Coast Prep 16U is a team on the rise as they have developed young talent to takeover in the years to come. First up is Genesis Meadows (PG, 5’6, 2023), one of the crafty ball handlers for this team. At Lancaster Day School in PA, she received All State Prep honors as a freshman. Meadows is an athlete with a ton of upside who knows how to win. This athlete has a coach’s eye on the floor. She knows how to create opportunities for not only herself but her team as well. Work ethic might be her biggest asset as she goes above and beyond to get better. For example, she is a 3 sport athlete so there’s never really any downtime. She has a 3 hour commute twice a week just for practice! The commitment she puts in to perfect her craft is undeniable.
Alongside Meadows is the “tweener” forward, Kendall Card (SF/PF, 5’9, 2023). Finding a player who looks for contact and enjoys the physical play is a rare sighting. Card was praised by Coach Brown for having a “Ron Artest” playstyle. We’re talking about a player who doesn’t mind doing the dirty work, snags rebounds on both sides of the ball, and does everything at 100%. Card’s development process has created a new lane of growth in her game. She has changed from a strict bruiser to now developing a faceup game . With the mixture of the two, she will be a monster in the future.
Madeline Stout (CG, 5’8, 2023) is a crafty athletic guard from Bangor, PA. Stout is a lefty combo guard which is almost like a prized possession in basketball. She can get to the basket and finish around the rim with ease. Knows how to turn opponents mistakes into opportunities for her team. This athlete has a ton of potential as she picks up on new things fairly quickly. Her progression is going to be key in the near future.
The goals are simple for East Coast Prep.
- Play basketball at a high level.
- Develop each and every player in the organization.
- Create opportunities for kids to gain scholarships.
- Have a complete healthy season.
- Win a couple National Championships
With the right coaching direction and same goal in mind, East Coast Prep is looking to be one of the teams to beat in the Insider Exposure League!
